Ride Bike For Bobby

Ride Bike For Bobby and raise money for two fantastic causes

On November 10th 2012 you have a chance to be part of history. Robbie Elliott and Phil Gray will be completing the final leg of their epic 3,500 mile charity bike ride from Portugal in aid The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Robbie and Phil have decided that before marking the end of their challenge, it would be fitting to go back to where it all began – their very first 33 mile training ride in Northumberland. The scenic route was the first that Phil took Robbie on to begin their preparation for their mammoth challenge.

Away from the mud, the second Cycling Sunday event will also be hosting a Breeze in the Park event, a celebration of women's cycling

This summer has been the most significant and game-changing time for women’s cycling and we think it's just incredible. We want you to help us celebrate this unprecedented era so we’re inviting you all to Breeze in the Park. We'll be transforming these parks into a bike-riding haven as we encourage women to take to their bikes with friends and children and celebrate the success of our GB cycling women.

Things have come a long way since the first Olympic Games in 1896, when all the competitors were men. With over 4,800 female competitors taking part and more medal opportunities for women than ever before, this has been the most decorated Olympics for women by far. The London 2012 Paralympic Games also sees a record number of women competing in what can only be described as the biggest summer of cycling the UK has ever seen.

Natalie Justice, Women’s Network Manager for British Cycling said:

‘London 2012 blew us away and will forever go down in history as the Women’s Games. This  is an extraordinary and unprecedented time for us and it deserves a celebration. We want every single woman out there who has been inspired to bring their bike and kids along to the parks and join us for a special Breeze bike ride.’

The Middlesbrough Breeze in the Park event will take place between 10am and 1pm

The Prissick Autumn Cup - 30 September

Circuit racing is the theme for the final Cycling Sunday event and the 2012 Prissick Autumn Cup will be taking centre stage.  This round of the Autumn Cup will feature a Women's Race, which is sure to be a popular addition to the racing calendar.

There will also be a Sky Ride Local Ride Strong Plus led ride, which will return in time for the participants to watch some of the racing:

British Cycling will also be there with a Go Ride Racing course set up for aspiring young riders to have a try at racing in a fun environment

All Cycling Sunday events will take place at Middlesbrough Cycle Circuit, Prissick Base, Marton Road, Middlesbrough, TS4 3SA
