Events Support Workgroup

Event Support

The North East Regional Board has recently created an Events Support Workgroup. Peter
Harrison is the Chair of the Group, which aims to support the development and
sustainability of high quality cycle events in the Region. The Group is looking
to extend its membership and are keen to hear from organisers who may be interested
in becoming part of the Group. Please contact the Regional Secretary Aidan
McDermott to express your interest: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In addition, there is a need to continual support and develop volunteers. Anyone interested
in becoming a commissaire or learning more about marshalling and judging at
events please contact the North East Regional Events Officer This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

For organisers planning events for 2014, the following information and resources
should be useful:

Workshop opportunity

The Region is considering setting up a workshop for organisers in the North East in the
future, however, in the meantime, the Yorkshire Region have invited organisers
to join their event for road and circuit event organisers on Saturday 25th
January at 1 pm at the Bridge Hotel, Walshford, Wetherby. This event will
be streamlined for both Yorkshire and the North East and aims to provide up to
date information on current practice. To book a place email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Event Management System

The British Cycling Online Event Manager enables event organisers to create cycling events
and submit them for regional and national approval via their membership account
on the British Cycling website. For regional approvers, it means less
paperwork, less postage and greater speed in handling event applications; for
organisers it means much more control over their events from registration to
entry management. Details of our Event Management System, and British Cycling's
Online Entry system can be found at: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/search/article/Event-Organiser-FAQs-0

Commissaires

As you know,British Cycling events require qualified commissaires to be present. The
Regional Competition Administrator (RCA), assigns the commissaires for road and
circuit races. The Chief Commissaire should make contact with organisers in
advance of the event; however, organisers may contact them direct. Organisers
who have not had confirmation of their commissaire team 3 weeks before the
event should contact the RCA. If you do not have a commissaire, the event
cannot take place. Contact: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Equipment

The Region has a limited amount of equipment that is available for organisers to use.

If you need to borrow equipment  from the Region please let the RCA know as soon as possible but at
least 6 weeks before your planned event: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
