Youth Tour of Scotland 2018 - Manager & Coach

The British Cycling North East Board wish to appoint a team manager to manage teams at the Youth Tour of Scotland (April 6th-9th 2018).  In addition, there will also be a coach appointed. 

Team Manager and Team Coach Job Description and Person Specification

The Team Manager will be responsible for:

  • The effective management of the team during the event
  • Maintaining good ongoing communication in the lead up to the event
  • Upholding a duty of care and adhering to the team manger code of conduct as published by British Cycling head office ahead of the event
  • Providing all financial costs and receipts for the event to the BCNE board
  • Reporting back to the BCNE board on the performance of the team at the event. 

The Team Coach will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Team Manager in selecting a team of riders
  • Providing coaching advice to the riders in the team whilst at the event and helping riders to perform to the best of their ability
  • Upholding a duty of care and adhering to the team coach code of conduct as published by British Cycling head office ahead of the event. 

All Team Manager and Team Coach candidates must:

 Be current British Cycling members.

  • Have a validated and up to date Enhanced DBS check with British Cycling.
  • Have passed a safeguarding and protecting children course within the last 3 years.
  • Have proven previous experience of working with young people, preferably (although not essential) from a BC Go-Ride club, as this will ensure they are knowledgeable of the best practices when working with young people.
  • Have in depth knowledge and experience of the discipline of the event.
  • Be clear about what the “Loco Parentis” role entails and when appropriate share this with the young people selected whilst at events
  • Have knowledge of the Anti-Doping procedures
  • Respect the Rider code of conduct, and set good examples
  • Have a valid Level 2 British Cycling coaching qualification (Team Coach role only)
  • Hold a current valid BC verified first aid certificate (Team Coach role only)

Youth Tour of Scotland 2018 - Rider Expression of Interest

The Youth Tour of Scotland provides some of the best rider development opportunities in the calendar and the highest standards of competition.
The BCNE Board will support North East Development teams of 4 boys and 4 girls to take part in this event.

Teams will be supported by a Team Manager and Team Coach.
This year the race is the weekend 6th-9th April 2018.

A team of 4 boys and 4 girls will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Youth A boys and Youth A/B girls.
  • Must hold a valid British Cycling racing licence which states North East as the rider's region.
  • Technical ability (assessed in races, Club Clusters of Training (CCT) sessions and Regional Schools of Racing (RSR)).
  • Attitude and commitment to teamwork as well as developing as a rider and competing at National Level in Road (assessed in races, regional cluster coaching sessions and Regional Schools of Racing).
  • Performance in other cycling disciplines will be considered as a secondary criteria.

North East Conference 2018

In previous years, the hugely popular HSBC UK Go-Ride conferences and the Cycle Sport Commissaires Conferences took place independently, but this time conferences take on an exciting new format, bringing together Go-Ride Club volunteers and Cycle Sport officials.

 

The 2018 conference will provide the opportunity for you to share your experiences, expand your network, and develop your delivery through interactive workshops.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, it’s an event not to be missed.

 

The North East Conference is taking place at Emirates Riverside, DH3 3QR on Sunday 25th February 2018.

The Go-Ride Club & Volunteer awards will be part of the day and we all know that dedicated volunteers are at the heart of all cycling activity, ensuring everything runs smoothly so that everyone can do what they love most: riding bikes!

  • Special Recognition

 

  • Go-Ride Club of the Year
