Cycling Award Young Volunteers (CAYV)

Cycling Award for Young Volunteers

A fantastic place to start volunteering within cycling is through the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers (CAYV) programme. This combines an introductory workshop, which covers the fundamentals of cycle sport and volunteering roles, with practical placements within our network of Go-Ride Clubs.

With three main elements, the one day course and subsequent passport programme is designed to give young people valuable insight and opportunities to volunteer in an area they are interested in:

Running a club:
This may include event management, race co-ordination or club development and could lead to becoming a Youth Representative / Officer for the club
This can encompass marshalling at HSBC UK Go-Ride Racing events and assisting at British Cycling open competitions throughout a variety of disciplines
Acting as an assistant to a British Cycling qualified coach at a local Go-Ride club

The Programme is open to young people aged 14-18 and no previous volunteering experience is required.

You can work towards a bronze (12 hours), silver (24 hours) or gold (36 hours) award receiving recognition through free branded volunteer clothing, certificates, memberships and the opportunity to be awarded in front of club volunteers at a Go-Ride session.

The North East has two workshops scheduled at The Hetton Centre both with spaces remaining;

Tuesday 10th April - https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/course/details/4266

Saturday 27th October - https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/course/details/4386
