BCNE Meeting - February 26th 2018

The next BCNE meeting will be held on Monday, 26th February 2018.

Meeting to start at 7.00 pm.

The Marriot Hotel, MetroCentre, Gateshead, NE11 9XF.

All BC members welcome.

Funding Opportunity linked to East Cleveland Klondike GP

Redcar & Cleveland council has linked up with the Tees Valley Community Foundation to launch a grant scheme to help groups who want to add extra atmosphere to the East Cleveland Klondike Grand Prix. 

Any sport, community or musical group who want to give the Klondike which is returning on Sunday 29 April 2018 an added layer of entertainment or celebration can bid for a grant of up to £1,000 from an overall pot of £15,000.

Cycling clubs and schools are welcome to apply and could utilise funds to develop coaches, offer coaching sessions linked to the event, on the run up, on the day, or post event.

Any constituted group wishing to submit an application should visit www.teesvalleyfoundation.org.uk for further information.

The closing date for applications is Wednesday 28 February 2018.

Regional MTB Coaching Sessions

Thank you to all who attended the Regional MTB Coaches meeting which took place on Tuesday 6th February.

At the meeting the start date for the Regional MTB coaching cluster was set.

To begin the programme, there will be a series of four MTB Core Skills sessions, full information provided below:


Venue; Longfield Academy of Sport School, Longfield Road,  Darlington, DL3 0HT 
When; Wednesday evenings 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of March 2018. 7pm till 9pm  
Cost; Online £4 + £1 admin fee or on the night £7.50  
Open to; All riders from 12 years old upwards, with good core skills looking to develop MTB skills  
Coaching content; Sessions will be based around manuals, wheelies, bunny hops, endos, jumping and other skills to enhance core MTB skills
Equipment to bring;  MTB with flat pedals, (limited flat pedals are available if required) no clips, Helmet, Gloves, Fluids, Warm clothing

To bring the sessions inline with efficient and best practice, entry for these four sessions and beyond will now be online, this method also helps to create a database of rider and parent contact details to communicate important messages and allows the attendance records to contribute towards selection criteria for other programmes such as RSR's.

Sessions 1-4 are now open for online entry via the British Cycling online entry system.
