Team Selection - Junior Tour of Wales 2014

The North East will again be supporting a team of four junior riders to represent the Region in the N.F.T.O. Junior Tour of Wales Cycle Race. This is one of the longest standing junior cycle races in the U.K. and consists of 5 stages of racing over 3 days of the August Bank Holiday (23rd-25th August 2014). The event starts with an individual time trial and is followed by 3 road race stages and a closed road circuit race at Bryn Bach Park.  The race travels through the counties of Gwent, Dyfed, Powys and through the dramatic scenery of the Brecon Beacons. Further information about the race can be found on the official web site: http://www.juniortourofwales.org/

James Falconer (Ferryhill Wheelers), Ralf Hodgson (Marton RT), Charlie Tanfield (Adept Precision) and Greg Taylor (Hetton Hawks) have been chosen to represent the NE region in this prestigious event. Each of these riders has been performing well this year, which means that the team should be competitive in a high class field. Charlie’s long solo break lead to his 4th place in the recent National Junior Road Race Championships and Ralf also had a good ride, finishing 16th. Greg is the current North East Junior Champion and James is a talented TT rider and current NE Junior BAR Champion. His forays into road racing have netted him a string of wins and a couple of second places in local senior competition. The riders will be supported by Marcus Smith (Team Manager) and David Morton (Team Coach).
